What Causes Heavy Periods Along With Tender Breasts?
i just turned 50 years. i had a period regularly till May of this year. then it stopped for six months. now i am having an overflow of bleeding. should this be of a concern? also before my period started, i experienced pain in the left side of my left breast for which i visited my family doctor. she was not concerned of cancer but she scheduled me for a diagnostic memo gram anyway. thanks for you time.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. There are hormonal disturbances in the body in the perimenopausal females and it leads to irregular bleeding pattern, commonly a period of amenorrhea followed by heavy prolonged bleeding. It is known as dysfunctional uterine bleeding. However, at this age uterine carcinoma and precancerous conditions should be ruled out. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated( ultrasound and endometrial biopsy) and treated accordingly. For the one sided breast pain, I would suggest you to get a mammogram and further management accordingly. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
