Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Frequent Urination While Treating UTI?
I have been having an issue with frequent urination since my miscarriage in March. It was my second miscarriage and I also had a UTI. I was given meds for UTI. In the past 2 weeks or so my frequent urination has increased. Sometimes I will urinate more than 3-5 times in an hour. I have no pain like I did when I had the UTI. Could this be another one or a different issue? It s really frustrating. Should I schedule a visit with my pcp?
If the frequent urination occurs only during the day then very likely this is due to stress. If you need to wake up at night to pee then a genitourinary problem is likely.
After antibiotics patients might be prone to candida infection. I would advise you to drink plenty of water and use a local miconazole cream twice a day in the genital area for a week. If you notice no improvement or you notice any worsening please see your doctor. A urinalysis and probably a urine culture is needed in this case.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
