Hi,
I understand your concern.
Foley's catheter is likely to cause irritation of
urethra which leads to frequent desire to urinate after removal.
Ascending infection in
urinary bladder , secondary to ill hygiene/ mismanagement of foley's can lead to
cystitis & frequent / burning & painful urination.
*Fortunately your husband does not show signs of infection.. it seems to be just irritation .
- follow fluid schedule as per doctor's advise. including fresh fruit juices
- Avoid caffeine / alcohol .
- Keep good personal hygiene , avoid unprotected sex
* with this plain irritation would be controlled in few days time. If not so-
- Get urine routine & microscopic test done to exclude urine infection / urinary stones If needful get urine culture & sensitivity test done & start with specific antibiotic with your surgeon's advise.
Thanks.
