I am a 42 year old female. I have been having pain in my lower back, abdomen, and feel like I have to urinate all the time. I m leaking urine often when I do anything (laugh, cough, jump, pass gas, get cold, lay a different way, run, hear water running, see water...). It s getting to be a large amount and daily. I don t want to be pee pants. What s wrong with me?

Hi,

After reviewing your query it probably implies either you are having urge incontinence due to cystits or stress incontinence (coughing, laughing, lifting) resulting in increase in intra-abdominal pressure on lower urinary tract, thus consult a gynecologist or Urogist to help diagnose your condition with suitable physical examination (focusing on your abdomen and genitals), brief neurological exam to identify any pelvic nerve problems along with urodynamic tests to assess the function of your bladder so that they can prescribe you the best treatment strategy, till then start incorporating behavior therapies like:
- pelvic floor muscle exercise (kegel) to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and urinary sphincter.
- limit fluid consumption ( avoid caffeinated and alcoholic beverages)
- quit smoking, maintain ideal body weight.
- toilet training.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
