Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Frequent Diarrhea And Constipation In Women?
I m a 29 yr old woman and have bowel issues frequently. Alternating diarrhea/constipation with pain to be more precise. And now for the last couple days, when I have a bowel movement, it literally smells like skunk spray. I m scheduled to see a GI Dr in a couple weeks but wanted to know if this particular problem was caused by a particular food.
Alternating symptoms of diarrhea and constipation can occur due to disorders like irritable bowel syndrome or intestinal malabsorption. Regular intake of probiotics, anti-diarheals or stool softeners based on your symptoms can help in treating the condition. High fibre diet, avoiding stress and mind relaxation techniques are also considered beneficial.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
