What Causes Fever Along With Cough And Appetite Loss In A Child?

My daughter is 5 years old and has been sick with fevers ranging from 100.8 to 102.8 for 9 days and counting. The only other symptom she has is a deep cough, as well as lethargy and no appetite. She has seen 2 doctors and not one can figure out what may be wrong. Can you help? My next step is taking her to the Children s ER and having them do some labs. Any suggestions? She is a preemie (3 months early) and has had heart surgery less than 2 years ago. Thank you!

Hi,

Fever with cough with appetite loss may be due to lower respiratory tract infection like pneumonia or bronchitis. Avoid cool drinks and ice creams. use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Use antibiotics and bronchodilators. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
