What Causes Fatigue And Shortness Of Breath?

I have been having fatigue and shortness of breath for weeks. I was very sick 2 months ago with terrible cough and congestion, lasted several weeks. Dr gave me anti biotic and cough meds. I don’t know if this is related or not. I am a very anxious person and get depressed some due to alcoholic husband. Also, I have PTSD due to childhood growing up. I am getting concerned now because I am having trouble sleeping due to wheezing and gurgling sounds in my throat. My stomach feels funny also when I try to take deep breaths which I have trouble. I am female, age 72 but have always been active in sports.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Do a clinical exam by your Doctor [gastroenterologist]and run few tests like [GI endoscopy and Esophageal (manometry)] to confirm the diagnosis.

2)Discuss your Doctor about [pantoprazole and baclofen]

Do follow few lifestyle modification like this-

1)Try to maintain a healthy weight. Excess pounds put pressure on your abdomen, If you are overweight or obese, work to slowly lose weight no more than 2 pounds a week.

2)Try to avoid tight-fitting clothing.

3)Try to avoid foods and drinks such as fatty or fried foods, tomato sauce, alcohol, chocolate, mint, garlic, onion etc

4)Try to eat smaller meals. Avoid overeating by eating smaller meals.
Don't lie down after a meal. Wait at least three hours after eating before lying down or going to bed.

5)Try to elevate the head of your bed. If you regularly experience heartburn at night or while trying to sleep, put gravity to work for you. Place wood or cement blocks under the feet of your bed so that the head end is raised by 6 inches.

6)Try to avoid smoking

Hope that helps
