What Causes Fast Heart Rate While Having A Fever?
I am 48 years old, male, 6 ft 1 in and weigh 230 lbs. I am in pretty good shape. Last Saturday I had a temperature of 102 which followed 3 days of a minor sore throat. The thing that worried me is my heart rate was 110-127 for 7 hours. I am taking Metoprolo from an episode of very high blood pressure and heart rate that happened last Feb. I was checked out by a Cardiologist and everything was fine. He kept me on the blood pressure medicine to get by blood pressure under control. Should I be concerned about the episode Sat? Do you think it was due to the fever? Thanks, David.

Yes it was most likely be due to the fever and sore throat as whenever your body is under any kind of stress or is dealing with some infection the metabolic requirements of the body increases and to compensate for this our heart starts beating fast.
so relax and dont worry once the infection and fever will settle your heart rate will also come down.
