What Causes Eye Floaters And Headaches?

hi, the last few weeks and mainly more the past week or so I have had a lot of sparkles in my eyes and thought it was connected to headaches (which I have always been prone to,but they are almost every day now), but now I also will suddenly get the feeling like when you stand up too fast and you feel like the blood rushed to your head and your eyes go all sparkles and you cant see properly for a few seconds. This happens without me even moving much sometimes. The headaches also seem to come whenever I lay down, whichever side I lay on will start to hurt, if I flip over then it switches sides, but then I lay on my back and parts of my head still hurt. Its been difficult to sleep. I started a new job with much earlier hours than I am used to recently, and as it takes me a long time to fall asleep have not been getting much sleep. I thought maybe these were all connected but I am not sure. My eyes, with the sparkling sensations feel like I have become extra sensitive to light. I dont know whether this would be an eye issue, a tired and stressed issue or a head/brain issue. thanks for any insight!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the comorbid conditions of headache, difficulty in falling asleep with recent job attachment do indicate altered homeostasis of sleep cycle with diurnal variation of hormone release. My guidelines at present:
- Consider to get normal rhythm over period of time
- Do not stress out much with your eyes at computer or mobile screen for longer periods
- Practice eye splashing with cold water 5-6 times a day
- Apply ice over both eyes 3 times a day
- Maintain hydration with plenty of liquids
- Avoid smoking, alcohol or any recreational drugs if using
- Do engage in meditations, YOGA
- Regular aerobics, walking, swimming or other activities whatever is suitable for you to indulge to keep your body fit and fine
- Manage to have sound regular uninterrupted sleep of 6 hours minimum

Do visit your primary care basic evaluation of your blood pressure and eye sight sharpness for near and distant vision.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
