What Causes Extreme Thirst, Fatigue And Lightheadedness?

Hi, I feel thirsty even though I should not be as I drink a lot of water; frequent urination during these periods of time; light headedness; weakness; these symptoms have been occurring for the past 3 weeks on and off usu between 11:00-2:00ish- alarmingly enough about 2-3 times a week. my last physical last July was perfect. I take no medications for anything. I just moved to Denver a few months ago and don t have a PC yet. I moved because of work and it has been very stressful and I haven t slept well at all the past 3-4 weeks very well. I am not sure if I am just really exhausted and these symptoms are mimicking sth more serious or if I should go to urgent care and have my blood sugar checked to see if sth has changed in my body since my last physical. please advise shannon

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You should get your sugar levels tested preferably fasting as soon as possible. Also restrictions of sugars may be started even from now. If readings are just near to normal, HbA1C may also be needed. Thyroid profile cortisol levels and serum electrolytes as well as urinary sodium may be needed if these symptoms persist and sugar levels are normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
