What Causes Extreme Pain In The Hands Of An 85-year-old Who Has Carpel Tunnel Syndrome An Arthritis?

My mon has extreme pain in her hands. She is 85 years and have been a sufferer for about two years. They thought it was carpel tunnel syndrome, then arthritis. We don t know what it is. All we know there is extreme pain in both hands - the hands are sometimes numb but mostly lots of pain. What is my Mom s problem?

Hello,

As we have ruled out carpel tunnel, next possible causes are neuropathic pain. As a first line management you can try drugs like Gabapentin for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing all the best. Thanks.
