What Causes Excessive Sleepiness And Pressure In The Eyes?

I very often feel extremely sleepy at different times of the day no matter how much sleep I got the night before. Sometimes, I feel pressure in my head and I have to close my eyes and rest or sleep for a few minutes to make it through the rest of the day. I have had my thyroid checked and several other blood tests and they all come back normal. When I sit down in the evening to read, I always fall asleep, no matter what time it is, but I usuall do not sleep well throughout the night either. Just don t know what else to ask the doctors to check;

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear.
Not getting enough sleep -- sometimes by choice -- is the most common cause of excessive sleepiness. Working at night and sleeping during the day is another. Other causes include drug, alcohol, or cigarette use, lack of physical activity, obesity, and the use of certain medications.

But nodding off when you want or need to be awake may also be caused by an underlying condition. Depression or a sleep disorder -- such as restless legs syndrome, sleep apnea, or narcolepsy -- are common causes of problem sleepiness.

I feel you are having stress or depression. Meet a clinical psychologist

Some of the tips to follow-
1. Do regular exercise atleast half an hour per day
2. Socialize with people, family and friends
3. Develop some good hobbies- music, sports, reading books
4. Keep yourself busy. An idle mind is devils workshop.
5. Learn meditation techniques.
6. Take medications regularly as prescribed by your doctor
7. Follow this regularly for 21 days. It is said that anything you practice regularly for 21 days becomes a habit

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
