What Causes Excessive Salivation?

My 12 year old son complains of excess saliva about 15 minutes after eating seafood (fresh water and salt water) followed by indigestion and heartburn. Usually gone after 30-45 minutes. Any idea what causes it? No problem with other proteins. Healthy in all other aspects, started about 4 months ago.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain excessive salivation after eating sea foods along with indigestion and heart burn can be due to acid reflux that causes reflux of acid from the stomach to throat leading to heart burn..

It can also be due to non compliance to certain type of proteins..

So my suggestion is to consult a Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and a blood test can be done to rule out the cause..

For now avoid eating foods that can cause him the symptoms..
Also to relieve the heartburn you can give him antacids after consulting a Physician ..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
