What Causes Enlargement Of Breasts While On Birth Control?

My 17 year old daughter started birth control in April. Her breasts have gotten larger this past year, by a lot. She hates it, they are DD now and she s tall and very skinny and has been told to model but she wants them smaller and thinks it s from the BC. Do you think that it is from the birth control? If so, is there a kind she can take that she can switch to? She currently takes Viorele.

I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

Breast engorgement is a common side effects of birth control pills.These pills contain female sex hormones estrogen and progesterone which causes her breast to enlarge.There is nothing to worry regarding this and it will revert to normal once she stop taking pills.
If she want to avoid this problem she can try contraceptive methods other than pills.She can use IUD(Intra Uterine Device) like copperT.
If she want pills she can use progesterone only pills instead of combined pills like viorele.
I suggest you to consult a gynaecologist regarding birth control options.
