I am on a lot of medications and I have searched each one with no answer to my problem. I started having extreme dry mouth to the point my tongue is completely dry and this gosh awful bitter taste. I have brushed my teeth with tooth paste that is recommended for dry mouth but..... my mouth is still very dry andshe will want to de I have a horrible hoarseness too. I am not diabetic, nor do I have cancer so I am dumb founded. I was told to to was my mouth out with Peroxide sore mouth wash. First can you maybe tell me why I have this terrible taste that I can not get out no matter what I do. Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms as you are concerned about your foul taste in mouth, so I would like to inform you that the foul taste in mouth is due to dry mouth as well s hoarseness in voice is also due to dryness in mouth and deficient saliva leading to dryness in throat..
Dry mouth can occur due to a number of common causes like side effect of certain medications like anti-hypertensive medication, anti-depressant and oral contraceptives, salivary gland disorders, nerve damage supplying salivary gland, long standing dehydration, Sjogrens syndrome, smoking, diabetes etc.
You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and treatment of underlying cause will resolve the problem.

As of now you can start taking supportive treatment like chewing sugar free chewing gums as it helps in stimulating saliva flow.
Saliva substitutes named "Artificial Saliva" containing methyl cellulose can be instilled multiple times in mouth for lubrication and preventing dryness..
Drink plenty of water..
For foul smell you can gargle with dry mouth formula containing mouthwashes like Biotene mouthwash as the regular mouthwashes have a drying effect so better avoid using them..
Sugar free chewing gums are also flavoured so chewing them will have a dual effect of reducing dry mouth as well as masking foul taste..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
