What Causes Dry Itchy Skin On The Penis?

Hi so my boyfriend has had dry skin on his penis for awhile and sometimes it peels off and is red. The dry skin will have a glassy appearance and it has come and gone for 6 months. Every time we have sex he says that his penis is itchy or burns. He says that there is a cut on his penis that is slowly healing. I just do not know what is going on and he won t go to a doctor to get it checked out.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms of your boyfriend seem to be related to a penile eczema.

I suggest using antihistamine medication such as Cetirizine 10 mg daily.

I also suggest using Calamine lotion for local application.

I recommend using cold compresses for local application.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards!
