What Causes Dizziness, loss Of Appetite And Weakness?

I am a 67 year old woman. I have mitro valve prolapse but never any problems. About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I had an episode where I felt dizzy ,weak about 11:00 am. Had only coffee and a bite of a protein bar so thought It was that I hadn t eaten, caffeine? But had another episode this morning, only coffee and bite of granola bar. In a hurry for church. Anyway, have felt weak all day, no appetite. Had a little lunch, then sipping Gatorade . Thought it might be electrolytes. Just had a check up in October. Lab work looked fine. Glucose 102? Checked blood pressure . It s fine I exercise regularly. No problems Just slightly dizzy but weak Like I have a virus. Had a sinus infection last week. Better, no flu Should I go to emergency room or just go to doctor in morning. Just feel weak and a little out of it? No pain anywhere.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

Dizziness with, loss of appetite and weakness could be due to variety of causes or it could be transient.

Do you have any other symptoms with this dizziness?

It could be due to electrolytes imbalance or hypotension or vasovagal but must be evaluated further if it remains constant.

Perhaps if the dizziness is not troubling your day to day work, then you may wait for few days.

Until then you should maintain proper hydration and electrolyte balance with some symptomatic antihistamines treatment like betahistidine or cinnarizine 75 mg. Do not panic.

However if the problem is persistent, you should see a doctor at the earliest and get evaluated further.

I will suggest you undergo routine blood count, ESR, blood electrolytes, liver function tests to diagnose the cause for dizziness and loss of appetite.

Your local physician or GP will know about the test. He/she will can order the test after complete history and thoroughly clinical examination like temperature, pulse, blood pressure which will enable us to arrive a diagnosis.
