What Causes Dizziness After Stopping Iron Supplements For Anemia?
I recently started getting dizzy and with a sensation like I wanted to vomit,
I had blood work done 2 months ago, my Dr. said I had anemia and started taking Iron supplements for a month. I stopped taking them about 2 wks ago because he said to only take them for that month. Can my dizziness be because I need those Iron supplements?
you haven't provided much information for your condition. Therefore a specific answer cannot be given, but I'll try to give you some thoughts about the things you've mentioned. Iron deficiency may cause anemia and various symptoms (including tiredness, dizziness etc). Iron supplementation can be prescribed but the cause has to sought as well. The cause can be a benign condition like blood loss due to menstrual hemorrhage for young woman, or a malignant one like colon cancer. Supplementation for one month is not enough. At least 1-2 months are needed for the patient to recover the hematocrit and 2-4 months more to replenish iron stores. So, I can't tell if your symptoms can be attributed to iron deficiency (only blood tests can indicate that) but I can tell you that iron deficiency cannot be sufficiently treated (if drugs are taken by mouth) in one month only. I hope I've helped! If you need further information on the subject, please ask and I'll be glad to help more!
