What Causes Difficulty In Walking Post A Hip Replacement Surgery?

I am nine weeks post total right hip replacement. May 17, 2016. I am having thigh discomfort and difficulty walking upon standing from a sitting position for the first few steps, then its ok. I have not been using any assisted devices (cane) to walk for the last three weeks. Is this a normal or abnormal symptom at this stage of recovery. Thank you, John Fitzhenry

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You should be very regular with your physiotherapy to increase and restore the range of motion. For pain relief, you can take Advil or Tylenol.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
