What Causes Difficulty In Sleeping?

is waking up most nights around 3am consistently considered a sort of insomnia?
sometimes I can get back to sleep but other times, like last night, I had to stay awake.
I'm female, 20 years old, 105lbs, and about 5'6"
I've not been diagnosed with insomnia in the past, and i think the reason i may be waking so early is due to stress...

Early awakening persistently could be sign of insomnia. Most common cause being stress. Like you mentioned you are under stress, that could be cause.
Stress causes neurohormonal imbalance in brain which tend to break sleep cycle.
Also under stress many tend to consume lots of caffeine and smoking, which further worsen your sleep pattern.
Maintain good sleep hygiene and also get over with your current stress by resolving it and relaxation methods.

Avoid caffeine 6 hrs before your bed time.
