What Causes Difficulty In Sleeping At Night?

I generally have difficulty sleeping through the night. I wake up at 3 a.m. regardless of when I fall asleep and cannot fall back to sleep after I wake. For the last few nights, I have slept like the dead, not waking in the night, but not feeling refreshed the next day either. I often think I would feel much better if I could just sleep; however, that is not the case. What is going on?

Hello
Welcome Here.
Sometimes due to daily stress, our mind is unable to relax. So this causes inability to sleep.
I have some suggestions for you:

1. A relaxing exercise, like yoga, can be done before bed to help initiate a restful night's sleep.
2. Avoid napping during the day.
3. Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol too close to bedtime.
4. Stay away from large meals close to bedtime.
5. Ensure adequate exposure to natural light.
6. Establish a regular relaxing bedtime routine.
7. Associate your bed with sleep. It's not a good idea to use your bed to watch TV, listen to the radio, or read.

If this does not help to improve sleep, then sleep inducing drugs like ativan, zolfresh(prescription drugs) can be used.

Hope this helps.
Thanks
