What Causes Delayed Menstruation And Spotting?

Hi, i am 24yrs old, ttc since 3 yrs, normal menstrual cycles, my lmp was on 1st of April and done laparoscopy on 9th of April. Had sex on 20th, 21st and 24th after lap, I was expecting my period on 25th but found spotting for 3 days. Does lap delay period, or is there a possibility that i ovulated late this month. Should i wait for AF to come or do a hpt test?

Hi,

Delayed menstruation and spotting can have several potential causes, including pregnancy, hormonal imbalances, stress, weight changes, and certain medications.

In your case, it is possible that the laparoscopy procedure you had on the 9th of April could have caused some disruption to your menstrual cycle, potentially delaying your period or causing spotting. Additionally, it is possible that you ovulated later than usual this month, which could also explain the spotting and delay in your period.

If you had unprotected sex during your fertile window, it is possible that you could be pregnant, and a home pregnancy test would be the best way to confirm or rule out pregnancy as a possible cause of your symptoms. It is recommended to wait at least a week after a missed period to take a pregnancy test for the most accurate results.

If you continue to experience irregular periods or spotting, it may be a good idea to speak with your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical conditions and to discuss potential treatment options.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It is possible that the laparoscopy procedure could have affected your menstrual cycle, but it is also possible that you ovulated later than usual this month. Spotting can sometimes occur due to hormonal changes or implantation bleeding.

It is recommended to wait and see if your period arrives in the next few days, and if not, you can take a home pregnancy test to determine if you may be pregnant. If you continue to experience irregularities in your menstrual cycle, it may be a good idea to talk to your doctor to rule out any underlying medical issues that may be affecting your fertility.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
