What Causes Cramp, Pain On Swallowing, Sore Neck When On Hyperthyroid Medication?

About a year ago, I yawned and got this awful pain in my neck (front/left side). Since then, this has happened to me about 4-5 times, the most recent being last Friday. When it happens, it feels like a cramp and if I swallow a few time, the pain will go away. But, for several days afterward, my neck is very, very sore in that area and it s hard/kind of painful to swallow. I live in constant fear it s going to happen again. I ve been to an endocronologist (am currently taking medication for hyperthroid), an ENT, my dentist, my GP. I ve had an ultrasound, an MRI ... nobody can diagnose my problem.

Hello I just read your query and from what you have mentioned it appears that you have agranulocytosis or white blood cell count because of anti thyroid medications and that has caused an upper respiratory tract infection and that is the cause for throat pain which you have.
It could be transient but I suggest that you have a complete blood count done to be sure.
In the meantime try doing saline gargles and take tab .Paracetamol 500 mg thrice a day.
Hope you find my advice of some benefit.Good luck .
