What Causes Coughing Up Of Blood And Phlegm Along With Swollen Tonsils?
I ve been coughing up blood and phlegm. My right tonsil is swollen, and my right ear is causing me a tremendous amount of pain. It s hard to swallow. Is there anyway it could be an abscess on my tonsil? I had one 3 years ago. Worried it s coming back.
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Yes, it could be an abscess but also it may be pneumonia or tuberculosis, in every case you need to see doctor urgently since these are serious symptoms and it should be relevantly treated by antibiotic therapy or by surgical incision and drainage of the abscess if present. Also tonsilectomy should be considered as well. Blood cogh is serious sign and if there is no visible bleeding from tonsiles, then lungs should be evaluated especially if you are a smoker. Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
