What Causes Constant Coughing While Having Multiple Blood Clots In Lungs?

My husband resently, last Saturday,multiple blood clots-both lungs, in hospital 5/17 - 5/19, has been on oxygen at home,injections-now done with those, and is on warfarin. (INR)-was at 2.1 fri.5/23.originaly was 1.3,but now doesn t go back for another blood draw until tues.5/27.but has been coughing and coughing,and now says he hears gurgling in chest,and only feels better if he stands and leans on something. (coughs up and spits out clear fluid). can t get any sleep,even has some kind of sleeping pill from dr.too,but really coughs more at night. what can he do?

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your husband's situation and problem.
He is having multiple pulmonary embolism (PE ).
In PE chances of pulmonary infarction and pneumonia are high.
So his constant coughing can be due to infarction or pneumonia.
So better to get done chest x ray to rule out these complications.
If infarction is the cause then he may need heparin injection.
If pneumonia is the cause then he may need antibiotic drugs.
So first diagnose him and then start appropriate treatment.
