Hi thanks for being there. I just had-11th post op 3vessel bypass. Experiencing drenching cold sweats x3 nightly for past couple of days. I was readmitted for rigors and rapid rise fever 103. Blasted with empirical Vancomycin and cephalosporin IV for two days, bold cultures, urine cultures negative at 48hrs. Minimal Phlegm managed in last couple of days changed from yellow brown to semithick mucus now. I must note that in the prior three months of surgery, I had episodic mini drenching episodes that
A chest CT angio scan would help investigate for a lung infection and also exclude possible pulmonary embolism (considering your past medical history).

What Causes Cold Sweats With Phlegm?

For this reason, I recommend performing a chest X ray study and pulmonary function tests. Some blood lab tests (complete blood count, PCR, ESR) are needed too. A chest CT angio scan would help investigate for a lung infection and also exclude possible pulmonary embolism (considering your past medical history).
