Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain as you have cold sores caused by Herpes Simplex Virus 1, it is a recurring infection and each outbreak of infection can last for a period of about 2 weeks and resolve but can leave spots or marks in the area of outbreak..
In such cases only topical application of antiviral ointments like Valtrex containing Valacyclovir will not help and you need to consult an Infectious medicine specialist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get investigations like blood tests, swab culture from the site of outbreak etc done to confirm the infection..
In case if herpes is confirmed you can be given a long term course of anti-viral medications like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir, Famicyclovir etc to reduce the frequency of outbreak of the sores..
You should also avoid getting exposed to other infected individuals..
For dark spots depigmenting creams like Kojic acid can be applied for lightening the spots..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
