What Causes Clotting Of Blood On The Ear Drum?

I have had problems starting in 2003 with my left ear due to an explosion that happend a few feet from my head. I did not have blood coming out of my ear after the blast. I recently had my ear looked at by an ent doc and they found a scab on my ear drum. I dont have significant hearing loss but enough to need a hearing aid while in crowded loud places. I only wear my hearing aid when absolutly have to and not for longer than 4 hours at a time. On Thanksgiving I pulled a small amount of dried blood out of my ear canal but thought it was from a scratch. Last night I pulled a significant amount of blood from my ear and my wife looked at my ear and said my eardrum was coverd in dry blood. My name is Erick and I would like to know how concernd I should be. My health provider is the VA and they are closed until Monday.
