What Causes Chronic Headaches?

I am an adult who suffer from chronic headaches and sometimes nosebleeds. Within the past two years, I have had a MRI and CT Scan and my sinuses are clear and no other problems found but I still suffer from headaches, sometimes vomiting, weakness, and nose bleeds. I take Relpax for the headaches. On occasion when the headaches are persistent, the doctor has treated me for sinus symptoms (antibiotic, etc.) even though the test shows no sinus problems. Also, I have graves disease.

Hi,

First of all, Replax should be taken once only for headache to abort the attack, then you should go on prophylaxis treatment such as propranolol 20 mg four times per day before meals, if you do not have a cardiac disease.

Second, you should do some investigations such as measuring your blood pressure. The prolonged use of Replax can cause hypertension, headache and cardiac diseases. Moreover, the hormonal therapy such as oral contraceptive pills can cause headache, so if you take it ask a gynecologist for help.

Finally, Grave's disease can cause headache and you should take medical treatment for it and ask an endocrinologist for help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mustafa, Neurologist
