What Causes Burning And Itchiness During Intercourse?

Hi im 22 and on the pill. my boyfriend and i are both clean from any STIs but still use condoms... we decided to have intercourse without a condom and the next day he got what seemed to be thrush. the itchiness lasted for about three days but was still sore even after that. I experienced a bit of a burning sensation during intercourse but was absolutely fine afterwards and didnt experience any burning or itchiness.. Can guys be allergic to female vaginal secretions? He claims he never has sex without a condom except once with a previous girlfriend where he experienced the same thing.could it be that since he rarely has sex without a condom that he became more sensitive then normal ? i have recently had a smear test which showed everything is normal.
