What Causes Blood In Urine Ans Abdominal Cramps?

i first had sex when i was 22yrs and bled heavily, i was with this partner for 6mnths. I then had a one night stand with the same person 4mths after our split-unprotected and bled a little, that was fine and no pain but after started to notice little blood in my urine and sharp abdominal pains. I then went to the GUM clinic where they told me bout me having cells on the outside of my cervix (i looked this up to be cervical ectopy) and i was also treated for PID, 2 weeks later i returned and got the all clear. 2 years on n i have just had unprotected sex with a new partner, there was heavy bleeding again-he was also larger than previous partner and soreness was there the next day, I have also bled twice after having a bowel movement but the 3rd time there was nothing. i have bled from my vagina but only lasted 2 days and no bleeding in urine this time. Have i got anything to worry about? or is it due to being still quite new to sex? i am turning 25 in couple of months so i know my 1st smear will be due.plz help x

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

In most cases this is sign of uroinfection or kidneys stones. This is mainly self limiting and doesnt require any specific treatment and you should just be patient and have fluids to promote urination. Less likely it may indicate possible bleeding in urethra, bladder or kidneys from popped vessel or some other cause. If this continues you should do urine analysis, urinoculture and kidneys ultrasound to rule these main causes out.

You should drink raspberry tea and plenty of water till you do tests. Also, avoid sexual intercourse and have keep good hygiene. You should reduce salt in your diet as well since this could lead to increased risk of urinary stone formation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
