Hi thanks for asking question.

Do you have hypertension???As you are taking atenolol also .

First get your urine examination.acute urinary tract infection can lead bleed in urine like urethritis case.If urine show pus cells antibiotic has to be started.

Second do you have loin pain?Do you have fever? If yes then pyelonephritis or glomerulonephritis has to be ruled out.Urine will show pus cell and protein respectively.
USG will be helpful for these condition.Treated with antibiotic and supportive care.

Because of kidney affection edema can occur.

Third do you have scalding pain while urination? Then USG done for stone detection.

Get your ECG also.Because I want to know your heart conditions also.get your blood pressure.

Both hypertension and diabetic can affect kidney and lead to glomerulopathy in long duration. So if suspected biopsy done after USG.

I hope my suggestion will be helpful to you.
