I am a 65 year old male in good health, in the last few months I have had fresh blood in my stool I have no other symptoms..I went to my gp he did a rectal said everything felt smooth & ok did a cbc everything is normal...I now have an appt next month with another dr. I am very worried about this & was wondering what this could mean...I have no history of any cancer of the colon in the family although my mother had a bleeding phlop one time & lived to be in her 80s without another incident...I feel great other then worrying myself to death...Thanks, Robert B.
I can understand the anxiety with bleeding per rectum for last few months. Hence you should do the following in such a situation in spite of getting anxious:
-Consult or get a reference for a Gastroenterologist. -Colonoscopy and biopsy. -Tests of stool. -Blood for CBC, tumor markers. -Clinical evaluation.
All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and proper management and gives you calmness. Get this done as soon as possible as you are 65 years old and should rule out cancer.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
