What Causes Amenorrhea And Delayed Periods After Stopping Contraceptive Pills?

Hi, I took Birth Control for about 8 years consistently. In January I decided to stop. About two months went by without a period and then in March I had a lighter than normal period that only lasted about 2-3 days. I m pretty sure I felt myself ovulate on March 27th and according to the app I m using to track when my period should be, I m technically late. Should I see a doctor at this point or is this normal since I was on the pill for such a long time? PS. I ve taken a pregnancy test and it was negative.

Hi, I think if your pregnancy test is negative, you are not pregnant. Periods can get delayed due to various factors like stressor hormonal imbalances. Get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound to see the uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of delayed periods. It can be due to some thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. You may need some medicines like meprate or deviry for inducing periods. Talk to your doctor regarding this. Hope it helps. Birth control pills will not have such long term effcts.
