What Causes Absence Of Periods Along With Severe Abdominal Cramps?
Yes thank you,I m a 48 year old female and my last menstruation was on February and only spotted, and since then nothing, i started bleeding heavely on the 24th of September with very painful cramps i tried to see my doctor but they only have an opening until Friday.my question is..is this normal or should i go to emergency thank you
I understand your concern. At the age of 48 the absence or decreased frequency of menstruation is an indication of the coming of menopause. Irregular periods are often accompanied by hot flashes, night sweats, due to increased body temperature, sleep problems, mood changes, changes to hair and skin. The usual pattern of the period is every two or three months. Pregnancy is still possible during this time, so taking a pregnancy test would also be a reasonable thing to do. However, heavy bleeding and abdominal cramps is something that requires further investigation. I would you advise to make an appointment with your doctor to run the necessary tests to determine if you are perimenopausal and to rule out other causes.
Wishing you all the best
