To confirm it's acid reflux from cold weather, should run upper endoscopy. Plus, as your son is 12 years old, you should look for other rare pathologies like Henoch-Schonlein Purpura which is common for children of the age of your son and that sometimes, abdominal pain and nausea are the only symptoms lasting only during cold weather.
