I m worried about my 12yr old son he has a lump on the right side of his neck. He s had it for awhile we went to Dr in September but it was small couldn t see it just feel it now in the pass few days it s grown to about the size of one of them huge gumballs and it s painful for him. He s been complaining about back pain for almost a year and he s Dr said he it was fine, he s staying really tired, hasn t had much of an appetite. I ve been researching on internet and I ve got myself so scared that I hope and pray you can help please
I understand your concern regarding your 12 years old son.
1)It can be because of swelling of the lymph node in the neck.
a) It may be because of Tuberculosis as you are complaining that your son feels tired and appetite has also decreased.If your son is loosing weight and even having low grade fever then TB may be one of the cause. Please visit chest physician if the other symptoms are also there. We can completely get cured from TB with all the available medications.
b) The other cause for swelling of the lymph node may be a local infection in the throat or ear, a good clinical examination will give a clear idea if your son is having a local infection. If that is proved then he would definitely feel better with help of Antibiotics.
c) Along with examination lab investigations also would be helpful to rule out other causes.
