What Causes A Lump In Front Of The Ear?

I noticed a small pea size lump right in front of the tragus of my left ear. It is not on the surface of the skin, I can only feel it when I press on it. It is completely painless unless I press on it and seems to disappear when I open my mouth. I have absolutely no idea what it is, and its really worrying me.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump in front of the ear which seems to be due to lymphadenopathy and swollen salivary gland and due to infection of parotid leading to parotitis and clogged duct of the gland. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult oral and maxillofacial surgeon for proper examination. Doctor will examine physically to check tenderness and consistency and may order biopsy or blood test. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory. For now apply warm compresses and take antihistamine like benadryl twice a day. Avoid touching or pricking it with sharp object.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
