What Casues Fever And Throat Infection?

My son age 11, was treated About two years ago with lymphoma. We had strep in the house About two weeks ago. This Thursday, My son ran fever about 100-102. We took him to doctor and they saw a puss pocket in throat. The strep test was negative, but since some family had strep they put him on meds. He ran fever yesterday and his temperature is 99-100? Should we be worries of replaps? What is the fever range for relaps? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned it is due to infection only and it is not due to relapse of lymphoma. So take medications as per your treating Doctor's advice.

Do take few preventive measures like this -

1)Try to avoid secondhand smoke.

2)Try to avoid caffeine.

3)Drink plenty of water. Fluids help keep the mucus in your throat thin and easy to clear.

4)Try to avoid eating spicy foods.

5)Try to include whole grains, fruits and vegetables in your diet. These foods contain vitamins A, E and C, and help keep the mucus membranes that line the throat healthy.

6)Try to avoid upper respiratory infections. Wash your hands often, and avoid contact with people who have upper respiratory infections such as colds.

Hope that helps
