What Can Be The Meaning Of The Result Of The X-ray?
Hi, My sister just had an x ray of her lungs done and the results came in but we cant make heads or tails of it..
FINDINGS: two views chest shows normal cardiac silhouette and pulmonary vasculature. lateral view demontrates a small amount of linear/discoid probable atelectasis in the middle or right middle lobe. no pneumothorax or pleural effusion.
IMPRESSION: small amount of linear/discoid probable atelectasis in the right middle lobe or lingula seen on the lateral view only
we havent received a call from the doctors and not sure if its something to be super concerned about where we need to contact the office. could you explain this to us?

According to the reports there is small amount of linear/discoid opacity noted in the right middle lobe of lung or lingula and it may be due to atelectasis.
Atelectasis may be due to many reasons.Small size may be due to retained secretions.It is not serious at all as other parts of lungs are normal.
