What Are The Symptoms Of HIV?

M 27 165cm
Sub: HIV Test
I am Rahul and I have a clarification about HIV. I did ELISA test after Five month of unprotected sex and the result was negative. Is there any chance of getting HIV infection after Five months? Whether I have to do the test again?

Hi Rahul, Consider yourself fortunate that even after 5 months of having unprotected sex with a partner( you did not mention the status -whether a CSW ) you came out negative in an ELISA, howsoever the probability of getting HIV after an unprotected sex with an infected person is 0.04 --1.4 %, and the same goes with person of unknown status .
Your chances of getting HIV are remote as you have almost crossed the 'window period' for HIV which is six months. So just to complete the protocol and to be very sure that you are not carrying HIV , get your self tested again at 6 months after proper counselling at ICTC so that you can gain some scientific information about HIV, its transmissions, testing and myths associated with it
And final advice : Always 'condom' your sex .
