Hi,
As emergency contraceptive pills contain high dose of hormones it is not recommended to take them with very short gap. The points that can help you are:
- There should be at least two months gap in between two emergency contraceptive pills intake.
- After taking one pill it can give protection for 24 hours post pill period also.
Regarding the side effects:
- Frequent intake of emergency contraceptive pills can affect the menstrual hormones and can lead to menstrual irregularity.
- Long term intake of emergency contraceptive pills can affect the
fertility also.
Now:
- If you have taken emergency contraceptive pills within 72 hours of the
unprotected intercourse, the possibility of
pregnancy is less. The efficacy will be more if taken within 24 hours.
- Brownish spotting may indicate collected blood in uterus and may not be abnormal always.
- Try to avoid emergency contraceptive pills for at least 6 months from now, go for possibly non
hormonal contraceptive methods like
barrier methods during this period.
- If the cycles get regularize, you may not have problem in getting pregnancy usually.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
