Hi,

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker commonly prescribed alone or with other medications for the control of high blood pressure. Its common side effects include increased heartbeats, flushing, constipation, dizziness, and edema around the ankles.

Since the digital monitor may not give accurate readings I advise you to get your blood pressure checked by a nurse or doctor if blood pressure is found to be high on two separate occasions your doctor would adjust the dose or prescribe an additional drug to control your high blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
