Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Are The Side Effects Of Verapamil 80mg And Flecainide 50mg?
I have just been diagnosed with atrial tachycardia. Put on verapamil 80mg three times a day and Flecinide 50 mg twice a day. But I have read how dangerous this drug is. Is it ok to stop it or wean my self off it? I have only taken 3 doses. I am scared. My heart rate seems steady now - with verapamil
Verapamil and flicanide are drugs used to for rhythm control in AF. Though they may have side effects but very few people get the side effects. In fact, their benefit is more then the risk as AF is much more dangerous then the drugs.
So I understand its important that you continue the drug. Stopping the drug may put you on risk of serious heart rhythm problems and blood clots like stroke.
So don't stop it, if you have any concern about the side effects of the drugs do talk to your doctor there are other options if you can't take drugs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
