What Are The Side Effects From Prolonged Intake Of Norco?
My son has been on Norco for 3 and a half months because of a severe back injury! He is having surgery soon and I m concerned about what they will give him after the surgery for pain. I not an advocate of popping pain mess. Can you tell me what the consequences are after taking Norco so long?
Norco is a combination medicine composing of HYdrocodone and Acetaminophen. Hydrocodone is an opiod analgesics whereas acetanimophen is a Non Steroidal anti inflamatory. Both work as painkillers.
Only signifivant long term side effect of hydrocodone is its addiction potential. It can be habit forming.
You son will be takinh these medications for sometime after surgery too and it will be slowly tapered off so as not to precipatate any withdrawl reaction.
Dont be afraid and trust your surgeons, they will do teir best to help him.
Hope it helps Regards Dr Manish Jha
