What Are The Long Term Effects Of Drug Abuse And Overdose?

hello, im 12 years old. and my sister is 16 years old. she is currently in the hospital for overdose on white horse. she also does coke, smokes weed, snorts pills, and drinks, and she is seeing/hearing things, picking her skin off. she is not her self, and going crazy. nobody can even see her because her bloode pressure is too high so she might have a heart attack or stroke. i just want to know what is going to happen to her and will there be any long term effects? thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us,

Intake of single/multiple drugs for a long duration and regularly can lead to complications of psychosis where an individual may start seeing or hearing imaginary things. Another complication may be a sensation of crawling insects on the skin which leads patients to pick their own skin. It appears that both these have affected your sister. In cases of overdose, the blood pressure can sometimes get altered leading to an imminent danger of a stroke. High blood pressure alone does not lead to any problem but if there is a consequent stroke, there can be long lasting problems like weakness of limbs or difficulty in speech. At this point, you can stay positive and hope for her full recovery at the earliest,

Hope this answered your query,
