General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
From history it seems that he might be having COPD ( chronic occlusing pulmonary disease ).
This is a chronic disease.
Give him expectorant cough syrup and advice him to expel the cough through mouth.
Ask him to go for deep breathing exercises.
Stop smoking if he has habit of it.
Give him high protein diet as there is more protein loss in sputum.
Take and care.
