What Are Side Effects Of Taking Birth Control Pills At Irregular Timings?

Hi, I'm taking Mercilon birht control pills (21-pill pack). I usually take it on the evenings, but I was delayed in taking the 2nd to the last pill (meaning, third week). I was only able to take it the morning after. Then I took the last pill at the same evening time. Am I safe? Thanks.

Hello,

You can continue the pills at the regular time in the evening. Delaying one dose of the pill is not expected to cause contraception failure. However, use condoms for the next 2 weeks for additional protection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
