What Are Painful Nodules On The Fingers Suggestive Of?

I am a 46-yr old female with severe gastrointestinal problems. Back in May I had a benign cyst removed from my left index finger. Within the last three months I have developed new nodules on my right index finger, right ring finger and now my left wrist. The two on my fingers hurt, especially if I try to make a fist or knock on a door. My mother had arthritis and Chrons, my maternal grandmother has very bad arthritis and my maternal great grandmother had severe rheumatoid. My family doc is stumped. He tested me for gout which came back clear. I do not even know what specialist I should try to see!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You may be suffering from hemorrhoids or even have an abscess in the region. I think it would be best to have a doctor examine you. If it is an abscess you would need an antibiotic such as Flucloxicillin and you may need to have it drained. For hemorrhoids you can use Annusol suppositories. Avoid constipation, drink lots of water and eat enough fibre.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
