Suggest Remedy To Avoid Deformation Of Fingers In Case Of Arthritis

I come from a family with a history of arthritis, my mother had very severe rheumatoid arthritis, I also have arthritis and have pretty severe nodules on two fingers . My question is how do I stop my remaining fingers from becoming so deformed or how do I explain to a doctor that Im not pill hunting but that I know what helps on the painful days and it has been a pretty painful road

Hello, thanks for writing in.
It is the inflammation, erosion and cartilage damage that lead to joint deformities in rheumatoid arthritis. Hence, Anti-inflammatory, pain-killers are necessary to overcome periods of pain and keep the inflammation under control.
Certain non-surgical measures such as occupational and physical therapy are alsoavailable which can increase flexibility and ease pain.
I would recommend you have a discussion with your doctor, to use a multi-faceted approach as it is a long-term treatment that we are looking at.
Hope this is helpful.
All the best.
